I am 15 yrs old (tenor) and i go to a highly compettitive arts school and we are doing west side story and i want to play the part of Baby John… Any songs that you think may be good for auditions.
I talked to the director and he does not reccomend a song from the show because we will do them during the call backs.

"A Whole New World" from Aladdin
"Close Every Door to Me" from Joseph and the Technicolored Dreamcoat
    or
"Oh What A Beautiful Morning" from Oklahoma

You could actually sing any of the group Jet numbers like "Cool" or "Jet Song," since the conceit of the lyrics is that each character is singing it like a solo — though they’re singing together, they each feel the same way about what it’s like to be in the gang, so the lyric expresses each of their attitudes. I hope that makes sense.

"Jet Song" would be the best choice — tons of acting opportunities, and it would allow you to demonstrate your vocal range.

But if you’re specifying that Baby John is your target, you could just go ahead and sing one of Tony’s songs. "Maria" is just a great audition song, because it requires good fortitude to get through and has a nice range to it.
